[Trigger] Custom spells can be made as items right?

Just checking.

#1: You make a custom spell based of that channel thing.
#2: You put it at item.
#3: You wear and click the item.
#4: The trigger for the custom spell is triggered.
#5: Stuff happens.

Or does it work different then normal custom spells?

I think that's how it works, or you could just use the unit uses an item event.
