It's probably out of my league but how does one make a custom campaign menu? Does it requires modeling? I've tried looking it up but I didn't find tutorial for that specific thing.
I'm on 1.26. But "make your own picture" is not exactly helpful when the question is how.If you are talking about 1.32+ campaign screens, you just find an animated screen/ make your own animated/moving picture, then import it into the editor.
ut "make your own picture" is not exactly helpful when the question is how.
And how would I make one from scratch? I've seen a few on this site but they're not exactly fitting.Well, for 1.32+, easiest way is to download shutter encoder, then find any picture on the internet and convert to vp9 format, which you then import into the editor. It won't be moving, but it will just be that picture for the custom campaign screen. If you want it actually moving, you can find an animated one online, then do the same, and then the background will be animated/moving.
Strange how few of them I actually saw on the site if making them is relatively simple. Like, in my case, there's no need to fiddle with models really because technically I could make it from existing ones. Though I imagine I'd need to export every single model I need into some kind of model editor.Since you're on 1.26 then yes the custom campaign backgrounds are just models with a camera and animation. So it would be similar to making any other model in that regard. There's even some custom ones on this site.
You can even extract and edit the vanilla ones with the appropriate modelling software like RMS.
Yeah, the later patches have some modernization although I've heard weird hiccups with the trigger editor. Loading screens are easier, I can just use in-game screenshots but I suppose, it's gonna be an existing campaign screen, unless an enthusiastic pro wishes to collaborate.Well "simple" is a matter of perspective, not to mention demand. Most people prefer to create specific characters or models rather than diorama set-pieces, these set-pieces can also be more involved and high-poly requiring more effects, time and effort. Not to mention you need to create a diorama that tells a purpose or story, with a generic background you would need to make it so non-specific that any one could download and use it UNLESS the background was made for your specific campaign. So in short, there's a lot of factors at playon latest patch which tulee is talking about the CCs just use animated images as they're backgrounds which are much easier to make using Wallpaper Engine and a high resolution image. If you google animated wallpapers you can even find loads of warcraft themed ones already created. In that regard, as a campaign maker latest patch is "better" in my opinion in terms of easiness, but the old backgrounds definitely have their charm.
Wow, thanks, I haven't seen these, even though I've tried with various keywords for the search.I use the latest patch and whilst it has it's quirks, I wouldn't say it would stop you from producing a blizzard style CC on the latest patch. As for backgrounds there are some on the Hive here are some I downloaded.
There's definitely more out there though but they're tricky to find.
