Creating thunder and lightning?

Any ways of doing this? I believe I saw it in a custom map a couple of years ago. Trying to add it into mine, no luck. I've searched google to no avail.

You can also use a thunderclap when the lightning hits the ground.

You can make a simple trick like:
Create dummy with height 1000
Order that dummy to cast Some spell that create lightning effect, like chain lightning that can't chaining to other unit.

with this trick, you can use any lightning effect, like mana drain lightning effect.

I think I once saw a map where the mapper made a white blend for 0.something seconds..
so it looks like a lightning...
