Newbie here, i think it's time for me to step up for the modeling too, i was unsatisfied with just importing cool models, i want to create from scratch to match for my map. (initially i was thinking of extracting but since [game is eos] and [game has no rom, only physical cd] hence im annoyed there is no source lol also tried ai generating tool from image to 3d, but im broke at the moment so im thinking of creating one for myself)

PS. yes there are many related thread to this but is outdated, to those who are making models, what do you recommend? did you use plug-in/extension? what model is best from to mdl file type?

For SD I've always used MDLVIS for the heavy lifting of the modeling and animations, in tandem with Magos Model Editor to set up the textures/materials/particles/event objects, and MatrixEater for animations transfer
As base shapes I use those from the oinkerwinkle tools (if they still exist, that was a million years ago), or a base WC3 model
