Heres the deal.

I have an item in a units inventory "Tiny Lumber Mill"

Now normally, you click it down and it will construct itself.

My Query is, without giving any unit the ability to build any buildings, as in they all have to start construction via an item, is there any possible way that i could say set it down and it be paused at 1% construction progress, requiring units to use the repair ability to build the structure?

Kind of like when your human builder starts to build a structure but when hes not working on it the building stops.

Well, you could add the ability to build to the unit. (make it peasant) and remove the repair ability
That way the building will be placed and not repaired until someone with a repair ability comes along

Seem like you missed something.

Yeah but the main fact of the matter is, the unit who places the item shouldnt be able to build buildings, unless there was some sort of trigger function that allowed you to add the ability to build the unit, order it to build it in the the place of the item and then remove the ability?

But there is nothing else i can think of

You could just set the health of the building to 1%, the building would be instantly usable (to create units, etc.) but, it would be an easy target, unless you repair it.

Yeah, but the point of it is for it to be in its construction phase, so that other units have to repair it. So it cannot be fully usuable.

You could create a dummy that starts "building" the structure (and disappears when it's built), make the structure have a "build-time" of 999,999... then go into the stats for the repair ability and set powerbuild rate to some insane amount (like 100,000)

If you don't know how to set the amounts so high, then hold shift when you double-click them.

Thankyou very much, it works. But you made it too complicated. Dont even need to make the dummy because the structure blueprint is started with an item. Thankyou very much, i had no idea that you could set values above what it let you as well :p +REP
