Clearing your status

Is there a way to clear your status, but keep the status message written in your profile messages, or do you have to delete the message completely to clear your status?
If there isn't, it should be implemented.

Clearing status? It's just the latest profile post posted by yourself. I don't see why one should bother thinking about that.

Because, when you have one status for a long time, it becomes irrelevant, and you can't change it without posting a new status, or you can't clear your status without deleting the message you want to keep in your profile. This is not high priority, but if it isn't too hard to add the "Clear" button at the status, it would be a nice addition.
