Clay?

Ok as you all know theres a Texturing Contest at the moment and I have just one Question which I need to be answered before i can participate in the Contest.

Can someone just give me a Basic Hint how to draw Clay?
My Idea was a Beastmaster Golem but I cant make him look like hes made of Clay. So any advices?

it looks a tad like a rock texture with quite a few cracks.
