well me n a few buddies have decided to work together to make a map, but we dont know if we should make it orpg, or single-player give me your suggestions with some ideas why it should be that and what you would like to see in it
IMO, when making a multiplayer orpg don't bother with a good storyline, rich backgrounds and such. People only care about getting epic items and getting them fast.
That's why i prefer Single Player rpg's =^.^=
I will add though that most people prefer to play with other people so making it multiplayer will make it alot more popular.
Well, it would be great if you can make singleplayer RPG. Having lots of items to craft and puzzles, quests not to much fighting enemies. Using your brain much, make a fight system like in Finaly Fantasy.
I must say i agree with all of those above saying that people prefer to play with multiplayer because of the social interaction and i would rather play a multiplayer game then a single player... UNLESS, every NPC is able to be interacted with and talked with. This would require some triggering to be done but this would allow for a richer story line and more in depth game experience for the player. Personally, I prefer that RPG's that i play have a good story line to them. But if you don't intend spending the time on making the map more social towards the player, then I would suggest making it multiplayer.
EDIT---> Also if you are having trouble with the story line, I suggest you talk to Newbchu, he is great at creating story lines for any map.
