Some points,
[+] Never use white backgrounds, it doesn't look good nor is it warcraft style
[+] The wood texture could be defined a lot more, and the highlights could be placed better.
[+] The red line around the wings of the totem could be more defined and maybe add something towards them instead of a thick red line
[+] This is an example of some nice wood design.

Yeah, the background white color and those red lines around the totem are really weird! It needs a half-balance of shading to have a balanced depth/mass in my opinion. And an effect with some rim lights would be nice also. Just my thought. Here is my edited example:

Looks flat, also objectively blizzard icons and icons generally trying to avoid using white background, because it fills eye too much, and reminds Windows XP style of buttons. So, darken this background to black, or, betterly, draw an juicy special effect; apart from that 3D objects need shading. Google few shadowing tutorials and give an eye to youtube time lapse drawing videos to learn something in shaping and drawing, then come back with updated version of this icon (or any another icon).

I agree that there's work to be done. I think, the first version was unworthy and this is not much better.

Someday, it will have the desired quality, like my other icons and you'll have just to wait the moment. )

It's a nice icon. Sort of lacks that Warcraft 3 feel but is good regardless.
