Looks like a symbol. If you add some more light and contrast it could look like a symbol. A blood sign. Like those from the campaign.

Well, add more highlights, use brighter red on the middle part and darken the lines that shouldn't be that visible. And remove that red glow in the left corner. The light should be (often) in the middle when it comes to icons and the corners darker. Other than that... well, with these updates I guess it would look really cool for a rune. We don't have a blood rune icon yet.

of course, it's not as good as your Shoulder icon, which is awesome in my opinion it's very detailed. This one needs a bit more detail. But, who am I to judge, my icons don't have any detail -.-
