It's pretty nice, but the incredibly dark shading on the edges of the crossbar makes it seem like outlines. And when the rest doesn't have any outlines, it looks a bit... Well... Funny.

Well, that's my opinion anyways. But it's still a pretty nice icon. 3.5/5 :]

not bad, but i think there have been too many sword icons lately...

which is of course no reason to not approve this.

another thing i'd like to mention is that the sword as a whole looks a bit strange because the blade fades away into the background while the (german 'parierstange' the thing above the handle ^^) comes too much into the foreground.

you should think about adding some more outlines as well.
and think about the light source. i comes from the left, right? the right side of the blade isnt darker than the left though.

Well, as you see the handle looks like a bottom of a screw if you see. As of the changing i would say too smooth the edges of the handle down so it looks straight and smooth. Then, add details and effects as a handle would look like.
