Pyramidhe@d: Darken the BG a bit so the gears stand out more.
Also. change the hue of the gears a bit. the yellow/tan of the gear blends to the yellow orange of the bg.

Pyramidhe@d: No changes made. I would rather have you simply change the hue a bit and then give you recommended then have you give up on this icon. Remember. the light is orange, not the gears. You can have the gears still orange but i wouldn't recommend it.

The yellow on the gears does not look like glow or reflection (i dont think there would be any since the explosion is behind the mechanism), but like color painted on them, wich is irritating because it looks like someone sprayed these gears only half yellow and forgot the other parts.
Except this little flaw, a very good icon and probably useful for tinker spells.

I think if you made the small inner circle of the gears silver(as it is right now) and the whole outer part including the teeth golden, it would look nice, sorta Dwarven-like and like the coloration of the Steam Tank(in WoW at least).

It would also be good if you'd make a similar icon only with some kind of metal stick or something stuck between the parts and all the parts a bit damaged, you know, some kind of "sabotage"?
