enjoy: Maybe the shading should get darker is it blends out towards the corner, and then maybe some orange the is kinda reflection of the fire on the planet?

Looks decent. Light it up a bit in center of fire source and in place where it colide on sphere. Meaby it will look better.

cartoonish or not, i like it. its good. the only thing id change would be the sphere, idk like into a magic type sphere a bit more transparent away from the fire and light and only make it really notticible where the fire colides

The blue barrier seems weird, since a hero will be using this as maybe something to protect himself from taking damage? You could make it somehow like this with arrows bouncing off it or do something with the back barrier on it, just a little example.

But yeah, it is still nice, and enough different to be considered his own work.
