It might be "self-made" but it's not "free-hand". That's a Halo 3 screenshot, not a painting/drawery/whatever/artwork.
Make something with a drawery program (like Photoshop, Corel Painter, Paint.NET etc etc) instead of making an icon out of a screenshot next time, and you'll most likely receive some positive comments, or at least constructive critics
