It's a gemstone named after a type of dragon. either it's shiny scales or the place where it was found. Or even it was created from dragon-fire Perhaps. It's meant to be generic gem item that people can make up whatever name/story they want for in there map. The name's more of a red heron to the Dragon's eye gem from WoW, which I took inspiration.
War 3 icons are far too small resolution for decent reflections without making the item have a huge surface area and changing the shape of the object.
