It's just a recolor, even if you are recoloring your own icon. I suggest re-drawing it, perhaps from a slightly different angle, so as to make this icon more distinguishable.

Just because it's allowed, doesn't mean that it's satisfactory. You're allowed to submit low-quality works as much as you want, but does that mean you shouldn't improve them?

There's a huge difference between a model "recolor" and an icon "recolor. An icon recolor takes all of a second to change the hue. A model recolor requires actually changing the textures used by the materials in the model, and, depending on the textures, re-wrapping them.

Well in the case of sellens dragon riders it was just a swap which takes about 1-2 minutes.

Changing the TExture on a Model isnt Hard at al lEspecially When its Orc to Fel Orc LOlE
