So, I have been working on this RPG for a couple months now, and just now I noticed that... my map is too big for b.net...

It is about 7MB, but I have NO idea what made it so HUGE. I have pretty much NOTHING in my map yet, ALL I have done is imported stuff and made a few triggers. I havent done any terraining or anything. So, can someone please help me? Thanks :)

I've tryed deleting the imported stuff and something really weird happens... I deleted a 650kb import, and it only gave me about 80kb o_O :(

There might be some sub-files connected to the "imported stuff" that though they only gave 80kb they branched off into other things giving them more KB's.

Well... is there anything I can do?

If you want to decrease your map size more without completely cutting out your imports, there are only a few ways to do this- and one of them is a pain in the arse.

These are some ways to decrease map size.

Thats about all I can think of right now I tried to find the post about decreasing map size, but I couldn't.

Response to #1. I already tried shrinking the map size.

I'm gonna try doing the MDX squisher thing ;)

Thank you very much!!! :D

Is there any way to just squish the whole map? Like, is there any way to convert it do .mdx and squish it?

If not, I have a question. Do I have to import the squished stuff after I squish it?

How to fix your problem.
1. Remove ALL imports (skins, sounds, modles, ALL).
2. Check size and if it is still bigger than 4 bm move onto step 3
3. Open the map in a MPQ editor and locate which file is so big and report it back to me.

Also. . .
By any chance did you use a third party editor like WEU to make your map?
Since thoes are known to add wierd and unwanted size to your map since I once used WEU and got a map to 28 MB when there was nothing (NO TRIGGERS, IMPORTS, DATA OR ANYTHING) in the map but a blank map and starting locations.

Also please post in more detail about what you put in the map and how you made it since that would be helpfull.

The WEU adds huge amount of files if you check all the options i notice that the trigger/spell option is a killer, i often just use the doodad, and buildable everywhere options as they add little to none in size of the map. If you have checked what i have and nothing else then your WEU hates you because everytime my file size jumped was just because i added an option mainly the triggers, although tree/hero add models while multiboard/progress/hero selection add some models and music files
