Beginner for WC3 Reforged

Henlo everyone!

How you would approach making models from existing WoW ones, for the new WC3 Reforged?
1. What would you use to export (WoW Model Viewer perhaps)?
2. Which programs would you edit them with?
3. Can animations be simply taken from WoW ones, or is there a lot of additional work besides renaming them (attack 1, stand 1...)
4. Lastly, what about the textures, the WoW ones have them embedded as far as I know, but how proceed with the pink blue ones (gloss maps if I got this right)?

My 3D modeling skills are only from a CAD, so a completely different thing than you real artist are used to.
Any tips would be appreciated!
