"Bad" Freehanding ?

Could someone explain what "bad" freehanding is to me ? Does it mean not enough different shades of highlight/shadow ?

Here's the skin I need to fix, and it says it has "bad" freehanding, but to be able to fix that I need to know what "bad" constitutes.

its kinda self explanitory man, its just bad freehand, as in the stuff you did with the photoshop brush isn't that great, it isnt well blended and it just looks plain messy, hence BAD freehand.

freehand refers to manual control of your drawing abilities directly associated with the hand. Its usually used in traditional terms though, not digital.
And example of traditional freehand:
Picking up a pencil and drawing something without mechanical aid like stencils or rulers.

Digital freehand:
Using the mouse or drawing pen to manually draw an image without the aid of tools such as line markers, filters and auto shapes.

To sum it up, your drawing abilities based on how well you can draw using your hand for control.

Actually I'm going to have to disagree with that mod on this one, its really not that bad Just needs some touch up is all.

What I said in the skin comments...

Most of the skin has a lack of shadows and contrasts on the colours. And the leg armour could use some more refined definition

You're on the right direction, it's just that it doesn't look finished yet.

Essentially the design and work is at a primitive stage. Flesh out the design better, using crisp lines but larger brushes for shading. Don't be afraid to use some references to get a better understanding of how to lay out shadows and highlights.

I've seen worse skins on THW. And can still point out a few that got approved. Even when the freehand isn't that good, isn't the most important thing that the skin looks quite good ingame?
