In just about every other map, Heros have a highly rehashed passive skill called "Attribute Bonus". This is as pointless as it is stupid.

Sure, the "sacrifice skillpoints for stats" may seem like a neat concept at first, but wouldn't that imply that the Hero's other abilities are sub-par and are not worth learning? Sometimes the skill is added so that the Hero gets +1 skill point to learn at each level, which is unnecessary. The skill also imbalances the game almost every time it is used, since some Heros would be more powerful with the extra stats while other NEED certain skills to be competent. Not to mention that this also throws the point of stat increasing items out the window. A skill who's only purpose is to boost the fighting capabilities of a Hero is also quite boring; no originality what so ever.

In short, it's an overused skill put into the game because mappers want to put some nice features into their map without realizing what effects it will have on gameplay, which is why I call it the map maker's crutch. Stop adding this skill to your map and think of some more original Hero ideas.

Hmm well in a way it dosent mean the other skills are not worth learning, it just means that u r gaining more stats to adapt to certain enemy heroes, such as melee focused ones. My map does have attribute bonuses, but are slightly diff because it is unique for each hero type (str mastery, agi mastery, int mastery).

In some maps (mainly hero arenas) these are used alot. I think they would be best if they were set so that a Unit cant learn them until they become level 10. That way they have most of their abilities and they get a choice: Continue upgrading abilities to higher levels or start gaining stat points.

It is too overused and is the sorce of imbalences since inorder to get people to invest in it they need to make it add noticable stats.
At the start usualy this ability is the weakest and spending points in damage skills would be better, but latter ingame the amount of stats it amounts to + the default of the hero + items make the hero rigged and godly compaired to if all thoes atributes were put in skills.

Also whats the point of it since you usualy end up maxing it anyway when your max lvl so why not incoperate thoes stats into the level gain rate and have another spell instead of atribute up.

Although it has a use as a spell, it should not be used as a bonous and should only up 1-2 stats not all 3 alot.

Example of good use.
Unsupassable Knowledge
Ups the heroes int by 5 a level (has 3 levels)
This would basicly up your int by a max of 15 and add 225 mana and 15 damage which is not bad for a normal melee ability but probably 6-7 int would be more balenced.

Example of how not to use it.
Atribute up.
Increases all stats by 5 each level (10 levels)
This would basicly add 50 to all stats which adds over 1250 hp, about 17 armor, faster attackrate, 750 mana and 50 damage.
Now imagine a melee hero with only this skill and see the trobule?
Will start out weak but endup godlike with over 2000 hp, 20 armor, 3 sps attackrate, 100 damage, 1000 mana (whats the point).

See the major trobules?
Worse is to stop it looking crappy earily game and to convince people to up it, map makers often set it to something like 10 to all stats a level making the hero invinciable late game and all other skill completly usless.

People should use this smartly and not as a filler or to up your hero overall since it makes the rest of the spells usless.
