I have about 200 Lats (Which could be about 240$) and I am thinking to get very, very good Graphics card, cause I got NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT for now, which is quite crappy.

Is Asus NVIDIA GEFORCE GT220 1GB good? Maybe you guys can suggest better graphics card, since this one is only 55 Lats. I would love to have NVIDIA GeForce cards for suggestions, tho.

Save up for an ATi Radeon HD 5970 :)
It's really good, I'm planning on getting a second.

EDIT: ATi Kills Nvidia Anyday.. oh I'm gonna get so much - rep for saying that

My GPU (which is a DX11 GPU) was really cheap, but it's HIS and not nVidia.
It's HIS Radeon HD 5750.

Should of gotten a HD 5770.. just a tiny bit more expensive and clocked better!

Yep, it does :D

Also, what is the rest of your system, need to check for compatibility before anything else.

Why does everyone forget compatibility, had a friend who tried to stick an 8800GT in a Pentium 3 with AGP XD

He should atleast have a PCI-E1 if not 2 slot so compatiblity is less of a problem as long as the board supports that it should work.

As for the CPU... Well thats more difficult. I advise checking your motherboard documents to see if the processor is supported.

That much of money for that GPU? I wouldn't even concider to buy that, way too expensive. I bought XFX GeForce 250 1gb what is way better than that for 150€, (though I got some discount because my father got some relationships... but nowadays it's still about 160€ only.

The GT220 isn't very good, it actually wouldn't perform much better than an 8600GT

I would recommend something like the HD5770, it would provide around twice the performance you have now, while using probably less power, and has DX11 :D, it should retail for 80-90 LAT.

Also, 200 LAT is equal to 380 USD

You could always wait for the GF100 Derivatives to come out if you want to get Nvidia, I wouldn't, Nvidia never was good in P/P/P

I second that, I have a 4890 and that has torn up any game I've thrown at it on max settings, including crysis.

So no worries with a 5970, you'll be set :) for a while anyway!

EDIT: Isn't the 5970 clocked higher than the 5770?!?

Obviously if he paid 500$+ for a top range card he will max everything, however I seriously doubt he has that much money so he has to get stuff he can afford (thus why blarg presented him with that card and not a higher clocked or faster one).

I am using a 275GTX and it is working brillienly for the games I play and seems it is perfect for maxing starcraft 2. Logically this card was quite expensive and is dated now so might not be what he is after.

I definatly advise DX11 as it will probably provide the most compatibility with games for years to come although those games are still few and far between. Yes DX10 works for now (as DirectCompute of DX11 works on all DX10 hardware and the remaining features are not really used commonly), however in the futre games will eventually only support DX11 as DX9 and 10 will be phased out eventually (by 2020 no one will probably remember DX10 let alone 9).

Grey, a 5970 has two full cores in it, it's like two 5870's, a 5770 is a budget part to replace the 4870. The 5970 costs 4x more than the 5770, but is less than 4x it's performance (more like 3.5x)

5830 replaces your 4890 now.

No way he can afford a 5970, $20 saved up and he can afford a 5870, 5850 with $80 left, and a 5830 with $160 left.

However, I think he is trying to get a new processor, and so I think a 5770 or 5830 would allow him to get a good GPU, and a good CPU (Check the CPU with us before purchase)

Also, Azeroc, what is the motherboard you have.

Well, another thing to check is if your power supply has a 6pin

Look for something like this:
6pin-maleblue.jpg

Or the upper part of this:
4-6pin-molex2.jpg

You'll need a 6pin for anything more powerful than a HD5670

Well, I had contacted with man from what I bought my computer. He said that, yes, they have HD5770. But I need to find out IF I have PCI Express 16x Port. How can I find out that?

EDIT: Oh wait, nevermind. I found information in Motherboard info.

EDIT2: Anyway, this thread is solved, I have everything settled and I am going to get ATI Radeon HD5770
