Alert when a map is updated?

Is there a way to get email alerts when a map is updated to a new version, even if the thread doesn't get more replies?

We can create a subscribe system, where you get notified when the author updates the map. This, however, will come with Hive 2.

It might be useful, but it could also get somewhat troublesome. Say it was just a minor update of something, to get a notification. And to avoid that, we would have to grade the changes, before notifying. Just having the map creator either make a post, or an option when updating, that can be marked to post a notification could solve it. But its a minor problem in my mind.
