1790 pollies for a model, is it bad ?

I'm currently working on a ogre hero model and I want to know if that nr. of pollies is too high ? I think it's ok for a hero...problem is I can't reduce the pollies anymore cause it will look like crap I think...Here's the thread:

if 1700 is the count on your current WiP, I'd say that it is too much(at least for wc3)
around 600-1000 faces for legs, arms and chest would be fine. Oh and the heads look kinda bad(they should have around 200-500 faces each), cause they only seem to be made of balls, but I hope you'll still work on them, when you import them into 3ds max or whatever you are using.
