Agreed.
SpellForce 1 even has a small modding community now that there's finally some modding tools for it after so many years - and a working map editor.
There isn't too much yet though, sadly. There is one not yet finished mod that edits a lot of things in the base game. I am tinkering with that mod, combining it with a mod I am creating myself.
I agree that the base game is the most enjoyable of the three, but I wouldn't call the other two boring. They are not long enough in my opinion which hinders them both gameplaywise and storywise.
give me a link to your mod once it's complete, I'll check it out
my biggest problem with the original was that you had actually little chance to play with the dark races, a few more maps at the end would have been nice
also the music aaaaah
I still get the chills whenever I imagine myself going through the mountain parts of the frost marshes where the ice elves reside
According to the game data, several maps have been cut from the game. It suggests that the base game should have had 32 maps and ended up with 21.
I think one of the good parts about the first expansion is that you start with the dark races.
Problem here is that we have almost no knowledge about these maps. Only for one I can say that it was originally intended that you would ally with Orcs against Beastmen.
