HIVE

Ahah don't worry I only used Linux for quite some time now and nowadays I work as a software engineer.
The current problem is that I wanted to be sure to have a working workflow before buying the official game :)

Anyway I'll get in touch with the developer with Hive WE, I'll see if it is possible to make it work on Linux properly and if yes I'll maybe contribute to it!

Oh god I just took a look at the Kawaii spell workshop of yore.
I've just had some huge nostalgia feelings haha

That's great to hear! I'm still doing my BSc. Probably I don't get a coder job by sole degree, but in conjunction with flourishing GitHub profile or such. I don't have anything atm, I'm not too bustling a bloke. :p

If you face graphics bugs with DX11, there's '-graphicsapi Direct3D9' flag. That's the extent of my knowledge, lol.

Yeah, I remember there were a couple of spell workshop threads. I can only admire how you guys had the energy to persistently make stuff for others.

To be honest I don't have an official github with real stuff or anything public relevant to coding haha
Let's say the engineering school (gives the equivalent of a Master in France but is more renowned than uni) I went is quite renowned and it did a lot for me!

As a warcraft III flag? For now I still need to make WarIII launching and if I have the proof it works and that buying it is safe and I'll not throw money in a river, I'll buy it again because I don't have any official copy anymore :x

This was the spell workshop I used to "manage" let's say: https://www.hiveworkshop.com/threads/kawaii-spell-workshop.243222/

Ah, nice. I think the renowned universities in my country, if there are any, reside within the capital region. Living would be expensive over there.

You should try to find and consult someone who's succeeded in the endeavor. Also if you have a WC3 installation still on hard drive somewhere you can extract your key. In older versions it was inside an MPQ, and was put into its own text file in a patch 2 years or so ago. Oh and you may have linked it onto your battle.net account? You can check if its there.

Damn, over 100 pages! You guys were industrious.

Ouch, where do you live?

Yup, right now I'm still trying to figure out how to proceed. I'm currently lurking and asking a bit here and there, but don't worry I'm motivated enough to make this work.
The only versions I still have are unofficial so no luck there sadly.

Yeah I was a machine back in the days always checking the thread and being available at every time of the day XD

Ahah sorry I don't remember everything of my Hive days ^^

This circular linked list stuff is not new I think it was first introduced by Nestharus in my memories, but putting it inside the textmacros to reuse it more I think I was the first.

Ahaha glad to see some vJASS going on :)
I heard that now JASSHelper is built-in in the WE, that's some great stuff to hear!

Yeah it is, though no TESH. So it's all black on white. And no autocomplete or IntelliSense, like Wurst has.
Malhorne

Oh I don't mind about that, I would write my code on Vim and then paste it. But just I have no more trouble to make vJASS working out of the editor haha

Ah, Vim... I'm pretty fast with normie editor thanks to using Home, Delete and End keys. And Visual Studio has some further shortcuts, like Ctrl+L to cut current line, Ctrl+Shift+L to delete it, Ctrl+Shift+V for multi-entry clipboard, etc. But Vim could surely hasten my flow. I'm just too lazy to learn it. :D

Btw, what programming language are you using at your work? (Please say C/C++ haha.)
Malhorne
Malhorne
Vim is quite powerful yeah with a lot of shortcuts and it is completely hackable, meaning you can write your own plugins and stuff. I really love it!

At work I mostly do Python among a few, but you'll learn that languages are like tools. They all have their advantages and disadvantages and have their usage. You may have your preferences and stuff but always use what's good for what you're doing!

Well, I'll look for developer positions of any language. But, during leisure, you won't take my C++! <3
Malhorne
Malhorne
I mean you can specify languages where you are experienced/at ease it is always easier to get a job in this case ;)

Ahah don't worry I know what you're talking about ^^

Yeah most of the companies around here are using C++ 03 or sometimes even older and that's quite a constraint.
I agree modern C++ is incredibly powerful but the learning curve is quite steep imo. And I also feel like they're trying to fit too much in the language.

I mean it's not like the language is not really used or anything haha
It still remains one of the most used languages, it just isn't the be all end all as it used to be for some time.

Sure. I just felt like listing some pointers to predict how its market share will develop. Sorry if I was confusing. ^^'
Malhorne

In my opinion it will probably decrease a bit more but will still hold quite a great portion of the coding world mostly because of legacy code and also because if fits a great niche.
