@deepstrasz - Activision just fired 800 people to please the investors, some of them worked at Blizzard. I don't mind the fact that they've chosen to restructure - I hate that even though the rumors about this layoff started circulating online like a week before, they've still waited to tell the investors first and didn't give a crap about people, keeping them hanging for all that time.

@MasterBlaster: are you telling us everything there is to know?

As far as I know, yes, but I wasn't an employee at Blizzard, so obviously I don't have any inside scoop. Still, going by what actual employees said, for instance Caden House, I'd say the way Activision handled these layoffs was pretty soulless towards the people affected.

Didn't they hire even more developers at the same time?

Yes, they did - but it has nothing to do with how they've treated the people who were laid off. You see, my problem isn't that they've chosen to restructure, it's how cruel they were to their workers. Blizzard always prided itself on being "a family", what happened show that the culture inside the company has changed drastically.
