Ah crap, that sucks. Playing through the game and cropping portraits sounds tedious, especially since I'm not the biggest fan of Disciples 2 gameplay haha.
Hm I forgot what exactly bothered me, but when I played it I didn't enjoy it. Think enemies kept spamming units, castles were hard to attack, some really strong enemy units in campaign, I like to lvl up a group and play safe with them but it seemed really hard to do on Disciples.. Heroes of Might and Magic's was a lot better.
Well, actually Disciples II had a difficulty setting something which HoM&M III for instance didn't as it was progressive. Newer HoM&M games have difficulty settings.
You could make your own maps in that way, like D&D, a group of heroes etc.
I don't remember exactly what difficulty I was playing on, but I think I recall a really strong unit in enemy castle who would paralyse my units when attacking, think even at times my entire party would end up paralysed.. Wasn't fun to play against.
Ah it's been a couple years since I played, I don't remember if it warned me not to attack the castles or not.. I'm fine with having to figure things out on my own but I'm not a fan of getting overly punished on a slow progression game.. Wastes a lot of time and effort..
Yeah I guess I had to save/load a lot more than I was doing. But Idk, I just didn't like the game all that much, wasn't too interested in the story either so I never even got far.
