It is not Spinrad's best novel (his masterpiece being Bug Jack Barron, closely followed imho by The Iron Dream), but I think that you will find it interesting nonetheless.
I had read it as a young adult (20-21?), and had thought it was an interesting read, even though I vaguely remember that the ending was definitively lacking somewhere.
