Altered melee requires heavily changed races or very different game mechanics. Having for example custom creeps does not make melee an altered one.

Really? That's what the rules say? Cause I thought that if the map loses its melee status in the editor it becomes altered melee.
Heck, I would agree with you only on custom doodads and terrain but custom creeps, that for me is altered melee since it changes the original gameplay.

Theres difference between melee and ladder melee, which does not allow any alteration.
