Well, the model just disappears. Maybe, you should make it turn into a ghost/banshee form and make it shrink or dissipate or turn to particles going towards the rising clouds.
Maybe make the character disappear a tiny bit later when the ash cloud envelops it fully.
Maybe vertex-color the model to a gray-black hue a bit before it disappears, so you'll render better the illusion that the character is disappearing within the black ash cloud?
I tried to add a smoth "ghosting" effect using visibility values from 1 to 0, but magos can't render a smoth transition, and given the speed of the animation, it just looked easier to use smokescreen.
