Some recruits are recruited

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
This is my first ever upload! Thanks to the hives best modellers: Kitabatake, willthealamighty, ikillforyou and Mr. bob

Alright, Do not use those sounds... where's the description?
Why does everybody explode?

Sorry but "cinematic" failed, not even close for getting approved.

ap0calypse, get over here and tell it to him.
I have arrived.

A description is something you use to describe whatever needs to be described, in this case your map.
Do you think that your description does such a thing?
I think not and I've created a tutorial for it, so let's hope that I'm the one who is right.

This is my first ever upload!
No need to tell, I think that everyone would know that without you having to say it... it's not hard to see when someone's map is his first or whether he's more experienced.

Now, where did you go wrong?
I would say: everywhere.

This'll take some time...

Let's start with the story:
The story exist out of a castle getting attacked by the horde, very lame, but okay.
When the lazy guy gets to arms, he explodes - shortly after some guy is killed because of a... meteor? What's the point of that?
Anyhow, then the horde actually attacks... 5 grunts and a raider, quite the massive siege I must say.
2 footies charge in on them and while running away they yell "ATTACK!" (normally, one would say that while charging at the enemy, instead of running away from them).
A few knights are coming in the battle, 3 meteors fall on the ground and the end.

Is it me, or were you just randomly testing a few things?
There is no clue, there is no real story, everything exists out of a few random scenes which slightly have to do with eachother.
You can either do something random and make it funny, or create a story, but a random non-funny cinematic isn't good :)

The triggers:
Err... yeah, no.
Please have a look at an efficiency-tutorial and a cinematic-tutorial, I recommend these 2:
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/...ials-278/importance-efficiency-coding-120105/
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/...-timing-cinematic-using-real-variable-125036/ (Note: this is pretty hard to do when you are new, using a cooldown timer is also good).

The latter tutorial is for when you completely understand GUI and are ready for an actual map... before that, learn mapping through tests, just mess with the WE and apply tips in the tutorials, after a while you will get used to efficiency and memory leaks.

The terrain:
I believe there is no real tutorial for a terrain.
I also think that a terrain tutorial would be half-useless, since the terrain needs to fit the map - a tutorial can't follow the direction of every map, it can only give you advice.
So here is my advise:
  • Do not spam trees.
  • Do not use blizzard cliffs (too much).
  • For water, use "Initial cliff level: Water"
  • Make the tileset varied, you also need to make a transition.
  • Use envorinmental doodads...
  • Do not (over)use cinematic doodads.

I think I've said the most important things...
