Now with the Sludge skin included!

This is intended to be a higher ranked acolyte.
Perhaps an acolyte who switched his duties of extracting gold and summoning buildings with overseeing the normal acolytes and keeping them focused on their work.
He might also have magic abilities of a higher tier than the normal acolytes.

The texture I used as the base was the original acolyte texture.
I created all changes in Photoshop with the help of the pentool, shading-by-hand and the occasional gradient fill.

Really nice retouch of making a high ranked acolyte skin! Clothing job is done well and the shading is very fantastic! Nice usage of teamcolor too. The things that I disliked is the sword design. The hole in the sword seems too small for his hand to go through. You could've removed that hole thingy there XD. Also the hood seem too plain, well if you compare the original Acolyte to this one, the original seem to have a better hood. The addition of the sludge texture is a plus, since a user can have 2 textured models. But I don't like the sludge concept at all. Doesn't have any proper detailing it is just random. But well, the skin is approvable.

Shame you didn't change the sludge creatures part of the texture too to get an extra addition to the skin.

Render and texture on the silky fabric is stunningly well done, but as some pointed out, there's few wrapping issues that you should consider fixing. The blade also looks a bit plastic, the edge at least.

Fantastical job for a first skin nonetheless.

I imagined it being made out of a multi-layered ornate heavy felt. With multi layered I mean that it is like a six/seven part robe that he would put on layer after layer and not just like a bathrobe for example. The glowy bits are bound to be removed, because they do not blend in to the texture the way I anticipated they would.

Also the shading of the cloth is not quite the way I want it yet.

The robe seems to be confusing/messy. But it is shaded very well which makes the skin amazing. I suggest to change the hood cloth, it just doesn't seem right. Well the robe makes sense but it just seems too much, maybe lessen some fabric? It is good to see some new skin makers, and hoping for more.

The hood and the robe will have some of the sharp detailed bits removed. I see how it is flooded now. Also, blue lights = gone. I'll upload the updated version tomorrow once I have a new dagger more fitting for a captain. ;)
Maybe some sort of an ornate wakizashi or a bulky fantasy karambit. You'll see then.
Thank you guys for all the tips and cc. Seeing the things you pointed out is sometimes hard when you're in the programm and you get carried away with adding and adding and more adding of new layers and knickknacks.

are you sure you don't wanna give the same-ish robe-like texture to the sludge monster that shares the acolyte texture? :xxd: it would look great, texturing two units at once

also the white part of the robe could use being TC as usual

I was thinking about giving the sludge more of a ectoplasma-ish color and lighting once I'm done with other stuff.

What is TC?
