WTF is a negative region??

i was looking at regions and theres something called positive and negative regions what is a negative region?

nvm i figured it out u can put more than one shape in a region so u can make a region have like a circular how in the middle or visversa

Think of the map as a ven diagram.

Positive regions are shaded shapes on the ven diagram.
Negative regions are cut out pices of the Positive shape.

Or to put it more correctly, positive is inclusion and negative is exclusion.
