Thanks! I feel like the background is slightly underwhelming though. I might rework the glow into something a little more intense.

I wasn't sure of the grooming habbits of Mr warlock, so I gave him normal nails on all fingers except for the thumb because he's edgy.

Great to see you working on freehand.
However, there are some issues worth mentioning here.
Shape of the staff is inaccurate, both parts doesn't match with each:

On the second upgrade, the staff is "flooded" by the effect, it looks like he is holding some hair in my opinion.

You could add something to the wrist, or a darker shade.
The knuckle could be smaller, try giving some space between the fingers and the palm:

I cannot help you much with my limited vocabulary, I hope these examples can help you to understand better. (Compare them)

I will keep working on it. I'll try to redo the the knuckle and adjust the stick, and then redo the glow in the icon

Give your skin tone colors more contrast they are really dull right now, and the wooden weapon that he is holding also needs some highlights or a brighter contrast of color. Also the bottom part of the wooden stake is thinner than the top part of it, make it one size instead of thicker to thin.

Noted. though I made it thinner because I was going for a 3D effect.

Please re do your icon like this,

because right now the orc hand itself looks very messy and the shading needs improved. It doesn't look like the hand is actually holding the wooden stick at all, you need to re-adjust your shape of the stick and where it is placed. It would be nice if you added some sharp nails on the hands as well since its an orc and the nails you have now are just one solid color. The stick itself should be on solid shape just like the photo i provided, instead of having it go from "thick" to "thin" on the bottom. Lastly the green skin tone are pretty dull and messy, i feel like they could be a little bit brighter, research some orcs and try to find a better skin tone.
