Question : How to save a 8-bit 256 colors war3mappreview.tga image and import it to a wc3 map with no errors?
I know how to create a war3mappreview.tga image and import it correctly into the map, but that file is too big (128x128 is 48b), i found out recently that Dota uses a 256x256 image and it's a 65kb image with 8 BitsPerPixel and 255 (256) colors.
The mappreview image is not the biggest deal, imagine doing that with the loadingscreenBL/BR/TL/TR.tga, you can create a high quality loading screen with less than 1mb (it usualy takes about 2mb with a 32bit real color .tga images)

I know how to save a .tga image with 8bits and how to convert it to 256 colors or 128, but when i import it to wc3 map and start the map it crashes :(

Can anyone help me?

All you have to do is:
-get your picture.
-Resize it to 256x256
-Save it as .tga
-Import it
-Double click it and check 'use custom path'
-Delete whatever text is in the box
-Paste this:
"War3mapPreview.tga" without the quotation marks.

Btw if u need an image editing program that can resize+save as .tga then go for
GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program
A great image editing tool, as good as photoshop [i think] but free

GL
thats all no mpq editor needed

I know how to import the image and make it work correctly but in that way the image size is big(256x256 image is about 180kb), what i'm trying to do is reduce the image size to a 256x256 image with about 64kb
I know that's possible, Dota does that.

I mean, i'm trying to reduce image quality
