Vent/teamspeak questions

Status
Not open for further replies.
I've been trying to set up a Vent/TeamSpeak server for my clan, but I've encounter some problems.

1. Bandwidth
How how does it use?
I don't want my ISP shutting me down because I'm running it.

2. How the hell do I change the ports it uses?
I posted on their tech forums, but didn't get much help.
How do I change the ports it uses, so itcan use the ones Wc3 uses?
(behind a router. Don't have login and can't reset)

3. Resources.
How many people can connect with certain amounts of RAM/processor?

Hopefully this will answer your questions, at least somewhat:

1. It uses only a very small amount, especially depending on the codec you use.
For example, if you use Speex at 25.6Kbps, then that means each person connected to your server will consume roughly 25.6Kbps when someone is talking.

Take 25.6Kbps (or whatever bitrate you select), and multiply it by the maximum number of people connected to your server at any given time and the result should give you a good approximation how much bandwidth it can consume.

2. In the server administration page (logging in as the superadmin), you can view your server instances and set which port each one uses. Teamspeak requires a TCP port (14534 default) for queries/HTTP and a UDP port for voice streams (defaults to 8767 for the first server instance).

3. It uses very little of either, so there's nothing to worry about.
