I was just finishing up the terrain of my Tower Defence when I realized that it looked so bad with grass or dirt cliffs while everything else turned out how I wanted it.

Im using the felwood terrain, and after tries and tries of attempting to get the cliff to change its terrain it just screwed my terrain up more.

An example of what I want is in Canada Maul where it goes from snow cliff, Dirt cliff, to grass cliff... Even though those are simple cliff terrains I think you guys can get the idea.

But is there anyway to make a cliff in which the terrain is like engulfed with like vines or poison? And if so please tell me theres a way to do this without making a model for it because I suck at modelling...

Never make mauls. They are horrible pieces of [expletive]. People make them and try to claim they are the original makers of Wintermaul and hoping to get praise, but instead, are banned out of games by map-making players like me.

I would recommend doing something like a seperation so you can change the cliff then mask it with a raise-plateau technique

I never said anything about a maul

Who said anything about a maul? ((The Canada Maul was just an example because Ive never seen another map do what I want)) Mauls are unbalanced take-off crappy pieces of shit... Like the original maul, Sad thing is, is that wintermaul wasnt even the first firiggin maul.

and orcfan I said NOT TO TELL ME TO SKIN MY OWN MODEL :p I hate skinning stuff...

I'm terraining my rpg now and I commiserate. I think the true trick to getting good looking terrain is organized randomization, if that makes any sense. You have to make it look natural, but you have to make it fit into a certain scheme. Augh! what am I saying? This freakin' terraining is blowing my freakin' brain cells to little bitty pieces!

Randomisation, not too much rubble, and variation.

With that i mean, make something like patches of terrain over the map, and clear paths, grassfields and such. Keep it organised, yet random.

Use alot of different doodads, mix them, too.
A combo i use alot, which looks really good:

Rocks, some cattail, and alot of bush, brush things, you know.

tiles should be set in a certain scheme, for example in the sunken ruins thingy, grassy areas should have mixes of grassy dirt, grass, and dark grass, while barren areas should have mixes of dirt, rough dirt, and maybe some grassy dirt. and sand nearby free water is good too.
