The Story:

The stories across the mainland speak of a man who is not quite human, but spawned from the ashes of the Phoenix.

The legend begins in a small village during the Second Great War. His caretakers knew of the circumstances of his birth, but still remained amazed at the subtle intelligence and integrity that grew stronger as he matured.

It was during a time of great turmoil among the kingdoms of the mainland when tragedy struck the Phoenix-born child.

The Orcish hordes and Human legions were fighting in distant lands, leaving many villages without the protection of a well-armed militia.
When bandits pillaged his home village he could only stand helpless as their leader executed his guardians and friends with a mortal swipe of his blade. He too was cut mortally and thought dead, until the flames within his soul revitalized him - he avenged the death of his surrogate family by bringing the same fate upon the bandits who ravaged his village with a fiery rage.

Afterwards records of the child fell into obscurity as the war moved into the homeland...

Thirty-five years later the scattered battles reminiscent of the Great Wars still scour the landscape, but have not reached their magnitude.
The denizens of the world were able to find tranquility in the lessening hostilities, and began to rebuild their civilizations. Yet in a land further away from the mainland that had not witnessed any true bloodshed resulting from the war, an new problem began to avail itself.

The maelstrom waters surrounding the continent and independent country of Iskan had provided a natural barrier against water-based invasions for centuries. In addtion, the mystery of the land had helped stave off rogue armies who didn't care to risk investment in a land with unknown resources.

Iskan residents were just as puzzled when it came to the history of their land. Of particular note is the Well of Seasons - a name given it by the ancient generations - because only a few elders realized what powers it possessed.

For as long as anyone could remember the Well of Seasons had only served as a magnificent relic that gave aesthetic inspiration to poets and artists of the land, yet 75 years before one man had sought to prove otherwise.

A wizard calling by the name Mer'Vitti had long obsessed over the strange unyielding corruption that remained in the Southeastern lands of Iskan, as well as the ever-flowing Well of Seasons. His years of study gave result when an experiment of his on the well sparked devastating results. The malignant impurity spread into the inner reaches of Iskan, and into the waters of the well itself. Unexplained phenomenon began to manifest everywhere, even outside the continent. Tornados, typhoons, earthquakes, 50-foot waves, and even meteors rained misery and death upon the populace of the land.

When Mer'Vitti realized that his own powers had increased by drawing from the temporary imbalance presented by the corruption, he made the decision to destroy the well, regardless of the consequences. A cult equally as mysterious as the circumstances of their land swung into action to halt Mer'Vitti before he could summon forth the spell that would have inevitably destroyed the planet.

Little is known still of this group, although for centuries before the incident their lineage has persisted.
Rumor among some circles is that they are a fellowship dedicated to the protection of the well. Others believe that their intentions may not be as genuine as their perception.

In the end, Mer'Vitti was vanquished after he failed to finish the final phase of his plan, and the Seasonal balance was restored to equilibrium.

Now another is bent on finishing where Mer'Vitti left off, yet with a different ultimate goal in mind.
His studies have proven to him what consequences would result from the destruction of the well - nothing short of complete world obliteration.
There is no reasoning behind his madness, but he possesses the power to back up his desires, with capabilities even beyond those of his fateful predecessor...

You are Commander Ihab Gravano, the only expedition force from the mainland who survived the journey to Iskan through the storms and hell that has once again surfaced due to the imbalance in the Seasonal equilibrium.

You are the last hope of all that lives, as the days continue to move by against your favor....
