Reducing poly

There is an automated technique known as decimation. Blender has it, but I'm not sure which other model editors have the feature:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Modifiers/Generate/Decimate

Although, for models that are already simplified, it can really distort the model. Decimation is useful if you use something like ZBrush or made it really high poly to begin with (e.g. using primitive shapes, such as a high poly sphere, cylinder, etc.), but it might not be applicable to your model. It really depends.

Another option is to weld vertices. That may reduce the poly count (but can also distort the model if used unwisely):

Otherwise, you can always just do it manually. It is tedious, though (IMO). You can look for faces that are within the model and won't show up in wc3 (kind of rare though) or you can just remodel some parts of the mesh.

All in all, what kind of model is in question (poly-count-wise)? Are you just trying to reduce the file size? Or are you trying to make it be less of a load on wc3? There are a decent number of options for both of those purposes.
