if all you want to do is learn, then just send the author of the map a message, asking him/her to send you some, or all of the code you would like to see. Most people don't mind sending such things.
Also, it is strictly forbidden to even discuss protection of maps here. Darky has his own ideas on it.

YOU create a GREAT map wich have 999999999999999999999999999999999 downloads at first his day! But this map wasn't protected...

at wc3sear.ch and other sites was submited a lot of maps like your one but with another credits...
will you like this thing?
and at last i may say that words of Darky rightful and people listen for him so you may see here NOT only protected maps, but tutorials or even good maps ! You need only to find them.. that's all
