Portrait of an attacked unit?

Well I'm trying to make a portrait when a unit is attacked and I want the unit to have the according portrait. But I have no idea how to get the portrait of the unit that is being attacked. So how would I do that?

Well a fool proof method would be to simply make a database using unit type as the key and getting the portrait path back.

You might be able to look it up using catalogues however.
