Overwriting base game units with World Editor object data?

So, I've been on and off working on a race mod thing which I'd been designing entirely through the object editor due to... not having thought of anything else.

Then I remembered that there were mods out there that would actually change all of the units on every map. Which is vastly desirable over having to import object data for -every single map-.

Is there any way to just, import object data into the MDQs or anything, or do you need advanced tools to do so?
