Order unit to Life Drain

Hey folks.

I have an ability based on the Dark Ranger's Life Drain.
The ability have no activation string so when I use:
"Order XXXX to Dark Ranger - Life Drain YYYY"
Nothing happens.

Am I missing something obvious or is there a workaround.
Note that I would like the ability to be based on Life Drain and not Channel.

Well does your dummy unit have the ability, does it have enough mana, is it close enough, is it allowed to cast it on the unit, etc?

This. Spot on.
Completely forgot that a computer unit needs to be able to see the target to be able to cast a spell.

Tried and it didn't work.
Anyway it was the sight range that was the problem
