Hi, I'm new here, and I would like to get started on making my own custom models and skins for my Warhammer fantasy battles themed map (i haven't decided a name yet) and there aren't many Warhammeresque models and skins. I would please like to know what I'll need to get started and tips on model making.

Help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

You can go to the tutorials and they useily say what you need and how to do it.

Ive looked at them, but they are quite inconsistent, for example: some tell me to use this program and another tells me to use something else, and the rest is confusing.

All I need are the basics really, so if you can link me a thread or something for with absolute basics that will be helpful.

It's not really so much as everyone uses the same program or everyone likes one software to make models. It's just variety.

A complete list of modding tools can be found here. Take a brief look at each one of them and mess around with it. If you feel most comfortable with, say, Milkshape, go ahead and use it.
