[Solved] Need help with crashes

Hi everyone,

I downloaded the Warcraft III 1.29.2 game files, extracted them, and the first thing I did was open the Launcher instead of "Warcraft III.exe".

Could opening the launcher have caused any issues with the installation?

The reason I'm asking is that my World Editor crashes when importing certain custom models. These are models that I had used successfully before, and I even downloaded fresh copies from Hive Workshop, but the editor still crashes during the import process.

Has anyone experienced something similar with 1.29.2, or could this be caused by opening the launcher first?

If you downloaded the 1.29.2 from Battle.net (selecting "Legacy TFT" under Game Version), you'll always start the game using the normal Launcher. That shouldn't cause any issue with your latest WC3 patch (Reforged) since Legacy TFT uses its own separate folder. You can't play this version on Battle.net, but single-player and LAN will.

I think crashes related to the certain custom models might be related to them failing to pass sanity check. I could be wrong.

(Sorry for late post. I've been off from computer yesterday)

Hiya, sorry for the late reply

I'm actually using the archived 1.29.2.9231 game files rather than the official Battle.net Legacy TFT installation.

The reason I'm confused is that these same models imported fine on my previous setup. I even downloaded fresh copies from Hive Workshop, but this World Editor still crashes before the models even appear in the Import Manager. Other custom models import without any issues.

Could this still be a sanity check issue, or does it sound more like something is wrong with my editor or installation?

my experience with world builder crashes with custom models is that the editor gets confused loading the import list and rendering the models. Have you tried saving with another in game model and switching when in game? this will mean the files can load before they have to render at load.
Hiya, thanks for the suggestion! thats something to keep in mind.

But the problem is that my World Editor crashes before the model even appears in the Import Manager, so I never get the chance to save the map or assign the model to a unit. That's why I was thinking it might be something with my World Editor installation rather than the model itself.

Edit: Alright, I got good news

The crash issues that where happening are the result of not extracting the files to the C: folder, when I did that it became fix.

Silly me, thank you guys for your help and sorry for the inconvenience.
