Nature Guardian Icon (Icon)

Moved to ported, if your going to take screenshots of models/skin and make them ur own without any freehand involved then they need to be in the ported section.
There's nothing in the rules that explicitly says that.

The description for the Ported Icons section reads:

Icons converted to work inside Warcraft 3. Here you may find icons ripped from World of Warcraft and other games/sources.

This is logically where people would go for other games' icons converted to work inside Warcraft 3 but otherwise unmodified. Not icons for existing Warcraft 3 resources.

In the Site Rules it's expanded as:

Submission of resources consisting of or containing large parts of (a ported resource) material (not from Warcraft 3) made by an external entity (e.g. Blizzard, other game companies, asset libraries, etc.) must be submitted to the appropriate "Ported Models/Skins/etc" section.

There is also stipulations that:

Icons MUST be from another game or source. Warcraft 3 icons are allowed with "Blizzard Entertainment" as the author.

My icons for this and the Darker Night Elf buildings are neither Warcraft 3 icons nor from another game.
The highest rating for Ported icons will be Useful/Lacking since they involve no original work.

'Original work' doesn't begin and end with drawing a line with your mouse. Honestly this Nature Guardian icon isn't a great example of this (I don't think it's my best work but I feel lit has a certain something - EDIT: I have now updated it, and I think it's more up to my current standards while retaining the special something) but the Darker Night Elf Building ones are- I did a bit more than just screenshot. I used filters and used the World Editor to get an angle and lighting that would make for a good screenshot to use. I used the brush tool to emphasise and de-emphasise certain parts and change the lighting. Even though I didn't go as far with my work on this nature guardian icon, I did still do more than screenshot.

Why not just put them as useful/simple in the main items section? I'm not trying to be like 'you have to like my work' but it is frankly insulting and tiring that they keep being sorted into categories for 'unoriginal content' when they do involve artistic work and decision making. I uploaded these because I thought they'd be useful to people who wanted to use the resources they're based off of, and ported doesn't seem like the place people would go for icons that fit Hive Workshop resources.

really not reading this wall of text just to think you have a point that is correct, it states here. If you have permission from the author then show it. Otherwise there needs to be some effort put into these instead of just screenshots of random models you come across in the models section and make it yours. If thats the case then everyone can just screenshot random models and spam the section..

First of all, on the 'Darker Ancients' skins page, Ehrghoul says 'Free to use and edit' in the description. So that covers the permission part. AS for the rest, it's a shame you didn't read my 'wall of text' (a phrase which is meant to describe unformatted, long paragraphs, and I included plenty of line breaks) because I answered your insul- I mean points in it. Reading my message would've made what I'm typing now unnecessary.

They are not 'just screenshots' and I put effort into them. I put effort into all my work. It's rather mean to assume otherwise. 'Freehand' is not the only technique that requires effort, skill and artistic decision making. You and most moderators on this site have very, very narrow and prescriptive views of art. (Besides, I do actually did do some freehand pixel editing in the making of these darker Night Elf Icons). If you don't think my work is good, fine. You don't need to deny that it's work.

But thank you for granting my request to move the icons back, or if it wasn't you, thanks to whoever did it.

Here is a comparison of one of my Darker Ancients icons with the original screenshot I used. As you can see, I have done more work than simply screenshotting and cropping.
