I want to be able to change the basic team colors.
I was hoping this would be as simple as overriding base models/textures by making edits at local file paths.
---------------------------------------------------------
- For example, to change the team 1 (red), I could add a modified version at: "Warcraft III/retail/war3.w3mod/replaceabletextures/teamcolor/teamcolor00.dds"
- This has worked for changing models such as adding a modified model at "Warcraft III/retail/war3.w3mod/hd.w3mod/units/..."
- I have tried adding it to "hd.w3mods" as well, but there isnt a "teamcolor" folder there anyway, so i doubt this is related.
---------------------------------------------------------
I have of course already enabled local files in regedit - as it works for changing units models/textures
I have already looked for this here and found:
But these dont help, and seem outdated as they reference it as being .blp or .tga files - but im seeing .dds files when i have located them. I am trying to avoid directly editing the mpq (idk if this would even work if changing the local files isnt working) - and further I want to just do this once and have it apply globally to all maps, rather than doing it on a map by map basis like one tutorial shows
---------------------------------------------------------
EDIT:
I figured out PART of the issue. I was placing it in wrong folder. I forgot that I just needed to place it under "retail/..." not "_retail/war3.w3mod/hd.w3mod/..."
But now it crashes. At least it does something
---------------------------------------------------------
EDIT 2: (SOLVED)
Idk exactly what the issue was. Might have been that I didnt generate mipmaps. This time I edited it with paint.net instead of GIMP and its not crashing anymore!
