Here you are:
It's extremely easy to do this, even a noob can do it easily.
Here's a little Tutorial:

Chrystal Trees (you can do this with units and doodads, too)

You need:

Magos Model Editor (find it in the Tools section)

You do:

- Open Magos
- Click on "Window"
- Click on "MPQ Browser"
- Click on "File"
- Click on "war3.mpq" (for ROC units)
- Click on "war3x.mpq" (for TFT units)
- In this case open war3.mpq
- For this tree open the folder "Doodads"
- Then open the folder "Terrain"
- Find the folder "Northrend Tree"
- Now there's a list with a lot of tree models, just pick one you like
(you can see the model when you double klick on it)
- When you've found one good, open it (double klick it)
- Now click on "Window"
- Click on "Material Manager"
- It has only one material, double klick on the "Material68339291whatever"
- Double click on the "MaterialLayer5638382whatever"
- Now find the option "Filter Mode"
- In your case there's already set "Transparent"
- Instead of "Transparent", choose the Filter Mode "Add Alpha"
- "Add Alpha" creates a blue chrystal effect
- Sometimes it looks better, if you also tick the box at "Flags" which is called "Unshaded"
- Now just click everywhere on "OK"
- Enjoy the result
- Now just save it with another name
- If you get an error at saving, you have forgotten to put ".mdx" behind the wished file name

That was it, I hope it helped, now you can create your own chystal models
