Math Paradox?

ok,ok, we were having a discussion about rounding numbers in class, and how even tho .99 repeating isn't the same as 1, I found something: o.o

10 x 1 = 10________10 x .99(repeating)= 9.99r

10 - 1 = 9_________9.99 - .99r = 9

So in conclusion 1 = .99r... wtf?

I'm not really into math,but can anyone explain this to me?

How did you conclude that? By calculating what you've written, I clearly end up with:
0.99... = 0.99...
and 1 = 1


...

well u could plug in 1 and .99r in the same equation and get the Exact same answer,idk its just confused me during class today and ended up frustrating my teach and calling me a smartass. -_-

if 0.99 was equal to 1 then

9.99 - 1 = 9, and that isn't truth

With a different number system all these diversions can be 'even'. With only 3 numbers for example (0,1,2) 1/3 == 0.1
