i was wondering if there was a way to make a map, that had two surfaces: a normal landscape, and also an underground landscape directly below it. it's kind of hard to describe, but if you've played Heroes of Might and Magic III, think of that. so, is this possible?

you could make the map letz say '100x200' (just sample)
so you could put the underground on a side to the upperworld but with exactly the same size.

dunno if you'd like something like that, but there is no way to do 2maps/groundlevels on the same spot.

Look at Water War (if you've ever played it), that has underwater and above water without having two seperate maps...I'm not exactly sure how it is done, however.

u will make 2 maps in one.... one will be de surface and one the underground ... okay after u finish makeing this u set the both in 2 areas (ex: area surface and undergorund doh !!!) when ur hero is above ground u block the camera to the exact surface area ...so he will not be able to look underground useing camera. Same goes for underground.

This is a good ideea for a hero based map... but in a strategy map it is better of too just make both areas in one map and use them that way.... see water wars map for details.
